Munnar

Once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India Munnar is a town and hill station located in the Idukki district of the southwestern Indian state of Kerala. Situated at around 1,600 meters above mean sea level, in the Western Ghats range of mountains with layers to tea plantations covering most of the hills it is once in a lifetime experience. The major attractions are Eravikulam National Park – famous for its endangered inhabitant – the Nilgiri Tahr, Anamudi Peak – the highest peak in South India with a height of over 2700 m, Mattupetty – known for its storage masonry dam and the beautiful lake, Top Station – to enjoy the panoramic view it offers of the neighbouring state of Tamilnadu and Tea Museum.

Munnar has a range of beautiful tea and coffee plantations and top points. One can enjoy a boat ride on calm waters at Mattuppetty dam. Eravikulam National Park is home of Nilgiri Tahr a rare mountain goat species.  Attukal and Nyayamakad are famous waterfalls near munnar.
